Character Name: Sherry Birkin

Canon Point: Post Resident Evil 6
Background/History: Sherry @ Resident Evil Wiki
Personality: Growing up, Sherry was very solitary. Her parents were always at work, so she often had to find ways to entertain herself, and craved interaction with other people. Because of this, she's very friendly and trusts people easily because she wants to please them and doesn't want to be alone. This can lead to situations where her naive trust in others has resulted poorly, but if someone gives her even the tiniest reason for her to think they're a good person, she'll stick to her guns unless there's solid evidence. She is kind-hearted and charitable, and if she can lend a helping hand to someone, she'll instantly jump to the opportunity.
Since her parents were taken from her when she was 12, she doesn't have any immediate family. She didn't have any siblings or any aunts or uncles that she knew of. The only significant relationships she has in her life are with the two people, Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, who saved her from a zombie outbreak that completely destroyed the city she'd grown up in. She had loved her mother, but didn't see her enough to remember what she was like, and though she loved her father as a child, she now holds bitter feelings towards him since she later found out he was responsible for the viral outbreak in Raccoon City... and nearly killed her.
Sherry has become quite resilient in the years after escaping the zombie outbreak in Raccoon City. She isn't phased easily by strange, out of the ordinary things, and she'll even attempt to debunk them. She stays cool under pressure and since she's always trying to make a good impression on her handlers, she tends to do as she's told as long as it doesn't involve going against her morals. When it comes to protecting people, you can bet she'll always risk her life for another person, even if they're a bit abrasive.
Her inability to shoot first and ask questions later gets her into a lot of dangerous situations. Talking someone down is always her first course of action when facing foes. She wants to know why they're acting the way they are, and wants to solve problems peacefully if she can. However, if she is given no choice, she will retaliate full force and defend herself.
Sherry may seem a little stiff before someone spends time with her, but she can crack wise with the best of them. She'll even surprise people by swearing like a sailor when least expected, and peppers her language with slang words when it appropriate. She definitely has a sense of humor, though it may be a little unique due to her dysfunctional adolescent years.
She doesn't like to be criticized for her size or appearance, and definitely doesn't like when people deny her based on first impressions, especially since she'll do her best to be friendly and to be taken seriously. She expects judgement, but wishes she didn't have to. She also doesn't want people to let her past define who she is. She especially won't tell anyone about how she's got mutated virus cells in her body and how she spent many years being used as a lab rat for various government tests, and prefers not to remember it. She simply wants to be perceived as normal, and nothing else.
Abilities/Powers: When Sherry was 12, she was involved in a large scale incident in her home town where the residents were infected with a fatal virus. This virus turned the population into flesh eating zombies and bio-weapon creatures, and also mutated her father into a monster. While trying to escape the city, her father implanted her with the virus and she grew ill and nearly died, but she was injected with a vaccine just in time and the virus supposedly went dormant.
However, as the years went by, the virus resurfaced, but it had adapted to her body, mutated, and became something entirely different. It didn't kill her or even hurt her-- in fact, it gave her the ability to heal small wounds in her body, though at the cost of her energy. She's kept this a secret though, and prefers not to let anyone know since she doesn't want to be treated differently.
She's been trained thoroughly in hand-to-hand combat and defense working for the D.S.O. (Division of Security Operations), and she also has training with a range of fire arms.
Items/Weapons:
- Beretta 93R
- A 20-round 9 mm magazine for her gun
- A stun baton
Sample Entry:
Sample Entry Two: Staring down the sights of the gun, Sherry squeezed her hands tighter around the grip. The harder she stared, the more her eyes seemed to burn. She could feel droplets of sweat rolling down her forehead, the rush of air from the cargo shuttle cooling her entire body. If she could just keep her damn aim steady, she might be able to take this asshole out in one hit. The agile, humanoid monster was gaining on her fast though. It leaped through the air, making its perch on a tall crate just in front of Sherry.
"Hey! Bird brain!" She shouted, provoking it to perhaps stun it for a moment. Her idea had worked, the thing snapped its bulbous eyes towards her, but she only had a brief window to take advantage of the opportunity.
If she missed, she was toast.
Not taking even the slightest moment to hesitate, she pulled the trigger to her Beretta and felt the strong recoil of the hammer as the bullet released.
She had prepared for the worst, as she'd already had a few run ins with bad luck during the night already... however, when she glanced at the creature, its body was splayed upon the ground, dark crimson liquid oozing from a porous hole in its head.
The sight did disgust her, but ultimately her expression changed to one of relief, and Sherry took a deep breath to calm her nerves.
